AL;DR Can Ruin Your Online Marketing
Have you heard the term “Al;DR” yet?
It’s a term being used to alert people to AL slop in content on the Internet so they avoid reading it.
There’s a lot of companies who are under the impression that AI can replace human beings at writing copy. ChatGTP can certainly write you copy, but it’s just regurgitation.
In short, AI slop doesn’t add anything that’s not already said. No new perspective. No new information. No new insights.
So why should someone waste his or her time reading it?
If you’re in content marketing, AL;DR should be a red flag. And if you’re a company who thinks you can use AI engines to write marketing copy you should notice the big red flag.
As we enter the era of AI slop, human beings - not bots - are going to increasingly turn to authentic copy that adds something new to the conversation. Or as Frank Landymore said: why should I read something that someone couldn’t be bothered to write.”
So, if you want to outsource your content marketing to AI engines, don’t expect any results.
